The first in a (potential) series of shows where Alan Irwin (BBC’s Soft Border Patrol, Live at the Sunflower) dissects the great, the good and the positively awful of the nation’s best loved soaps, starting with the best of them all. After somehow being sucked back into watching every episode of Eastenders, Alan will attempt to answer the burning questions, like “Why does no one in Albert Square own a washing machine?”, “How do these people afford to live in central London?” and “Who in the name of God decided that Phil Mitchell was a sex symbol?”.Alan Irwin, originally from Lisburn for his sins, is a stand-up comedian based in Belfast, first performing in 2010. He has gigged across the UK and Ireland, hosts "Kill Your Darlings" in the Black Box with Ronan Linskey, is a former Chortle Student Comedy Award finalist, and stars as Sandy Donaldson in BBC One's "Soft Border Patrol". This is his fifth hour of brand-new material. Comedy Lab is proudly supported by CQ Belfast and the CQ Belfast BID.
