Christmas has well and truly arrived in Belfast!

Although there is a definite festive feeling to our top five events this week, it’s not all about Santa and snow – a bit of comedy improv and business learning in there for good measure!

If you have an event coming up in the Cathedral Quarter, we’d love to let our audience know – let us know about it here and tag us on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram if there’s anything going on in the CQ that we can share to our followers.

Wednesday 18th December, 7.30pm @ The Black Box

Tenx9 is a storytelling event where nine people have up to ten minutes to tell a true story from their lives.

True stories – not pontificating, editorialising or reflecting – just stories where something happens and the audience is wondering what’s coming next. Each month/event has a theme. This week is their Big Christmas night, where all the stories will be themed around the festive season.

Wonder Frog Improv Comedy

Wednesday 18th December, 8pm @ The Green Room in Black Box

Belfast’s longest running improv comedy group serves up an hour of hot, fresh, off-the-cuff comedy. Using only audience suggestions, Wonder Frog come up with comic scenes that have never been seen before and will never be seen again.

The show is completely made up on the spot, on the night – and we can’t do it without you!

Comments from previous Wonder Frog shows:

“It was very good, I was very impressed at what they came up with and how fast. I loved ‘Whose Line is it Anyway?’ and I loved this even more.”

“I think the show was great! It was very entertaining, spontaneous, interactive and witty. I enjoyed it very much!”

Pigeon and Plum’s Variety Show

Thursday 19th December, 7.30pm @ The Black Box

This hugely imaginative cabaret show that rips up the rule book has been blowing Belfast’s mind since 2005 – and although Friday’s show is sold out, there are still a handful of tickets left for the opening night on Thursday.

A live show that for two very special nights kicks open the wormhole of cabaret and allows all the golden eras of variety theatre from the 1870s to the 1970s to merge in a fusion of frivolity on their opulent stage for your perusal and pleasure. So slip into your finest Victorian feather boas and top hats or maybe you prefer the roaring 20s or that Abigail’s Party kitsch 1970s evening gown or nylon jumpsuit!

Three’s Theatre’s quirky eco-friendly twist on old fashioned circus and cabaret arrives in the Tumble Circus Big Top this Thursday in Writer’s Square.

Tumble Circus arrived in Writer’s Square last Friday 13th December and will be entertaining Belfast until 2nd January, but this year they are sharing their magical space with Three’s Theatre, to offer audiences even more opportunities for magic and wonder this festive season.

From delicious vegan food courtesy of Curated Kitchen, to drag queens in biodegradable glitter, burlesque performers bedecked in organic cotton and not a plastic straw in sight!

Proudly supported by funding from the Cathedral Quarter BID, we urge everyone to grab your ticket for this show before they sell out!
