"Belfast's Cathedral Quarter is the city's buzzing, creative soul"
A new active travel hub has opened in Belfast city centre to enable more students, workers, and people living in the city to walk, wheel and cycle.
Housed in two refurbished shipping containers, this Belfast City Council pilot project has opened at the city’s Cathedral Gardens, beside the new Ulster University campus.
It will be on site for approximately two years as a resource for local communities, workers and visitors, as well as staff and students of the city’s further and higher education facilities.
Visiting the facility, Damien Corr, Manager of Cathedral Quarter Business Improvement District (BID) said: ‘The Cathedral Quarter is a vibrant place to work in and visit. The arrival of thousands of Ulster University students has added to that buzz’.
‘Being able to commute freely and easily is increasingly important, and this facility will help students and workers in the area make the change to cycling, which is great for mental and physical health and an environmentally sustainable option.’
