Belfast City Council have opened a ‘Vacant to Vibrant Capital Grant Scheme’ in order to incentivise property owners and potential occupants alike as they continue to work towards the revitalisation of Belfast city centre.
With £700,000 pledged to the support of start-ups, independent retailers, social enterprises, and cultural and voluntary organisations, the aim of the scheme is to increase diversity and vibrancy in the city; while also working to improve street quality, job longevity and employment opportunities.
The pilot scheme will be open for two years from 7th July 2022 and funding will be awarded on a first-come-first-served basis; eligible applicants are invited to apply until all available funding has been allocated.
Property owner and business or organisation eligibility states that; the vacant property or space must fall within in the Belfast City centre boundary, the business or organisation must be registered as such and have three months of active operation as of date of application submission, the property must be vacant for 12 months prior to the application, submission of the relevant template found in the application pack, and ability to deliver the scheme within nine months of Letter of Offer.
For further information, Belfast City Council will be hosting a series of drop-in information sessions at 2 Royal Avenue, Belfast on Thursday 21st July, Friday 22nd July and Thursday 28th July from 10am-4pm.
