Just in case the incessant marketing has passed you by… it’s Valentine’s Day this week!
If you’re the kind of couple who likes to mark the romantic season, but you don’t fancy the usual hearts and flowers and clichés – then our alternative ideas for a Valentine’s celebration in the Cathedral Quarter is just what you need!
Beanbag Cinema – Valentine’s Screenings with Cathedral Quarter Trust
The Cathedral Quarter Trust, Beanbag Cinema and The Belfast Film Festival have teamed up for a mini-festival of iconic romantic films. Snuggle up in the back row and share some popcorn with your sweetheart while enjoying the cute and quirky 500 Days of Summer, the 90s nostalgia-fest that is Baz Luhrmann’s Romeo & Juliet or settle in for a weepy with The Notebook.
NI Science Festival – Anatomy Nights (Heart Dissection) & Digital Love – A Faculty Lecture
The NI Science Festival has a couple of events for the couple that loves to learn together. Anatomy Night features a live heart dissection in The Black Box on Valentine’s Night itself, while on Sunday it hosts Digital Love, exploring how far we are from empathic machines who can think and feel.
Women in Business NI are inviting the entrepreneurs and go-getters of the city to celebrate a little self-love this Valentine’s Day. The Love Me Ball takes place in the stunning setting of Belfast Cathedral and promises to be an exclusive night of world-class entertainment with a five-course gala banquet and the chance to win incredible prizes.
Yes, back by very popular demand, The MAC is holding roller disco skating sessions on 14th and 15th Feb so you can enjoy a date night (or day) with a twist. Carolyn Stewart will be spinning the tunes, so dust off your leg warmers and get down there! If you want to celebrate love with the whole family, there’s a family roller disco in 16th and 17th February too!
No partner? No problem! The ladies can celebrate the season of love anyway with socialite and girl power advocate Cathy Martin at the Galentine’s Brunch at The Merchant Hotel. The Cathedral Quarter Trust and Belfast City Council have teamed up with Cathy for a Valentine’s day out with a difference this Saturday. Cathy chats fun and fashion and brings with her the fabulous make up artist Paddy McGurgan, fitness and fashion influencer Tiffany Brien, and health food blogger Fiona McCartan AKA Gluten Free Fi.
